Potential Legal Claims

When a vehicle collision occurs, oftentimes the at-fault party or parties can be held liable for the injuries and losses that occur as a result of negligence.  Additionally, when the at-fault party is a common carrier, such as a Metro bus, the standard of care that must be used in transporting its passengers is elevated.  A common carrier must use the highest care and the vigilance of a very cautious person when transporting its passengers.  Common carriers must keep up with modern improvements and must adopt commonly accepted safety designs and devices in the vehicles and equipment they use for transporting passengers.  Moreover, the standard of care for common carriers is further heightened when transporting disabled persons or children.

When the investigation of this collision unfolds, if one or more of the drivers are determined to be at-fault, the injured victims can seek compensation for damages including hospitalization, continuing medical expenses, rehabilitation, pain and suffering, permanent injury, lost wages and emotional distress.  It is always advisable for victims to contact an experienced personal injury lawyer who will stay on top of the investigation and protect their legal rights and interests.
